Carmen R. Gonzales passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 11, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. She was a loving, caring and compassionate person who cherished spending time with her family and watching her novellas and Dancing with the Stars.
She is survived by her son, Michael Gonzales and wife, Antoinette, and daughter, Consuelo Martinez and husband, Ben; three brothers, Joe Romero, Fred Romero, and Anthony Romero and wife, Christine; and one sister, Kathy Gallegos and husband, Lorenzo; brother-in-law, Carmen Gonzales and wife, Lena; and sister-in-law, Dolores Pyle; grandchildren, Nicole Vigil, Paul Vigil, Samantha Vigil, Tiffany Gonzales and partner, Chuck Saiz, Stephanie Martinez-Cordova and fiancé, Stacey Rowe, Vincent Martinez-Cordova, Suzanna Chavez and fiancé, Moy Cervantes, Ben Martinez, Jr. and wife, Ashley, Brian Martinez and fiancée, Dione Encinias, Ashley Martinez and fiancé, Andrew Aragon, and Tanya Martinez; and seven great- grandchildren as well as two on the way; uncle, Manuel Duran and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
She was born on March 14, 1943, in Las Vegas, NM to Ernesto and Annie Romero. She was a graduate of West Las Vegas High School. She married the love of her life Robert Gonzales on October 5, 1968. She was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. She retired in 2003 from St. Joseph West Mesa Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gonzales; her parents, Ernesto and Annie Romero; her in-laws, Carmel and Maria Gonzales; sisters, Fabiola Arguello and Mary Lucy Encinias; brothers-in-law, Charles Pyle, Paul Arguello and Roger Valdez; and sisters-in-law, Lucy Romero and Rita Valdez.
Rosary will be held Monday, March 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside. Friends may visit at 5:30 p.m., prior to the rosary.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St Joseph's Dr NW Albuquerque, NM. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St Santa Fe, NM.
The pallbearers will be grandsons, Paul Vigil; and nephews, Ernie Encinias, Paul Arguello, Jake Encinias, Marc Romero, and John Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
