Age 51, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 21, 2014 and is now resting with the Lord. He was born on February 1, 1963 in Quezon City, Philippines, and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1973. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugenio Zafra. He is survived by his mother, Consuelo P Zafra; brothers Eddie and wife, Mary, Eugene and wife, Charito, Stan, Christian and wife, Diane; sisters Nena Haas and husband, Ken and Shelly Hertzler and husband, Erik. Carlos was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Carlos was passionate about cooking and loved making tasty dinners for his family. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed watching Lobo football and basketball. He had a fondness for animals and took good care of his own cats along with the visiting neighborhood cats. Carlos was a member of The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 32 and could often be found volunteering at the VA Hospital. Carlos will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 28, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado SE.
