Carlos German Valenzuela Segura, amado esposo, padre, abuelo y amigo, partió en paz el 4 de octubre de 2024, a la edad de 88 años.

Nacido el 13 de Enero de 1936 en Moniquirá, Colombia, hijo de Eusebio Valenzuela y Blanca Segura, German creció con una gran pasión por la música (acordeón), el deporte (bicicleta) y una profunda curiosidad por el mundo que lo rodeaba. Se graduó con honores en Ingeniería Química en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia en Bogotá y luego se especializo en Ingeniería de Alimentos en la Universidad de California, Davis.

Después de trabajar en el Instituto de Investigaciones Tecnológicas por unos años, German organizo su propio negocio (Industrias Gus) enfocado en frutas secas que se vendían en supermercados en la ciudad de Bogotá. Con esa pequeña industria, el saco adelante a su familia, dándoles apoyo para completar estudios avanzados.

En 1963, contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Leonor Forero, con quien compartió mas de seis décadas de amor. Juntos formaron una hermosa familia, criando a tres hijos, Fernando, Jaime y Patricia, y disfrutaron de la dicha de ver crecer a sus dos nietos (Rodrigo y Diego), quienes fueron una fuente constante de alegría y orgullo para él. German fue un hombre de familia, conocido por su calidez, inteligencia, y su inquebrantable apoyo a quienes lo rodeaban. German y Leonor se mudaron a los Estados Unidos cerca del nuevo milenio para estar cerca de su familia.

German era un hombre generoso, amante fervoroso de Dios, Jesus y la Virgen Maria, siempre dispuesto a ayudar a los demás, participando activamente como voluntario en diversas organizaciones benéficas, especialmente una que ayudo familias desplazadas por la violencia en Colombia. Su bondad y humildad marcaron la vida de todos los que lo conocieron.

German será profundamente extrañado por todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo. Su legado de amor, bondad y servicio permanecerá en los corazones de quienes lo rodearon.

Carlos German Valenzuela Segura, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at the age of 88.

Born on January 13, 1936, in Moniquirá, Colombia, son of Eusebio Valenzuela and Blanca Segura, German grew up with a great passion for music (accordion), sports (bicycle), and a deep curiosity about the world around him. He graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and then specialized in Food Engineering at the University of California, Davis.

After working at the Institute of Technological Research for a few years, German started his own business (Industrias Gus) focused on dried fruits sold in supermarkets in Bogotá. With that small industry, he supported his family, providing them with the means to complete advanced studies.

In 1963, he married the love of his life, Leonor Forero, with whom he shared more than six decades of love. Together they built a beautiful family, raising three children, Fernando, Jaime, and Patricia, and they enjoyed the joy of watching their two grandchildren (Rodrigo and Diego) grow, who were a constant source of happiness and pride for him. German was a family man, known for his warmth, intelligence, and unwavering support for those around him. German and Leonor moved to the United States near the turn of the millennium to be closer to their family.

German was a generous man, a fervent lover of God, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary, always willing to help others, actively volunteering in various charitable organizations, especially one that helped families displaced by violence in Colombia. His kindness and humility touched the lives of all who knew him.

German will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
