Carla Sanchez

August 28, 1954 — March 2, 2024

Carla Sanchez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2024. She was 69 years old.

Carla was born on August 28, 1954, and throughout her life, she touched the hearts of all who knew her. She faced life's challenges with grace and courage until her battle with cancer came to an end.

Carla's educational journey took her to New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico, where she pursued her academic interests. She later embarked on a fulfilling career at Sandia National Laboratories, where she dedicated 21 years of her life. Her last role in Global Protocol allowed her to indulge in her passion for interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and traveling.

Aside from her professional achievements, Carla's greatest joy came from her family. She shared 23 wonderful years of marriage with her loving husband, Jimi Sanchez, whom she had been close friends with for 38 years. Carla is survived by her three children, Daniel Bunch (Amanda Bunch), Elizabeth Lindsey, and Sarah Lindsey (Frank Woost), as well as her cherished eight grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Vicki Martinez and Tracey Nichols, her brother Teddy Nichols, her stepmom Glenda Nichols, and her stepsister Vonnie McNeal.

In addition to her professional pursuits and family life, Carla found solace and happiness in various hobbies. She was an avid traveler, gardener, reader, and needleworker.

In the Bible, Jesus says, "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you" in John 14:1. Carla was at peace with dying and looking forward to going home to the Lord. The funeral service will be for the family only.

Carla will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in peace.
