Age 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed peacefully away Saturday afternoon December 15, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Pegues is surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Alice; son Clarence Jr.; daughters Joycelyn Jackson and Tsiosdia Pegues; step-mother Marvyn Pegue; grandsons, Clarence Pegues III, Avery Pegues, Andre' Jackson, and Max Jackson Jr.; great grandsons Avery James, Tyrelle Jackson, Deveyion Jackson, Daijon Jackson; great granddaughter Kendall Pegues and cousins from Rio Rancho, Otho and Vaita Caddy and many other relatives from across the United States and wonderful friends and neighbors. Dr. Pegues served in the U.S. Army from December 1953 - 1955. He received his Bachelor of Education from Huston Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, Master of Education from Prairie View A.M. in Prairie View, Texas, and his PhD in Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, NAACP, Elks, served as a volunteer for the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta for many years and was a member of the board for the North Central Association for Accreditation of Secondary Schools. Dr. Pegues also served as a Teacher and Adult Educational Specialist on the Navajo Reservation in the BIA and Area Personnel Officer in Gallup. He was the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist for the Veterans Administration in Albuquerque until retirement, after 37 1/2 years of service. The visitation and viewing will be held at FRENCH - Lomas on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 9:30a.m. also at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30p.m. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
