Cleo Everett McGehee, Jr. passed away November 25, 2022, at the age of 95. Everett was born in Abilene, TX in 1927 to Gladys Deutschman McGehee and Cleo E. McGehee. Everett served two years in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and then worked for more than 30 years with Humble Oil Company and Exxon. He graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelor's Degree in Business at the age of 63.
While proud of his Texas roots, Everett, with his wife Jackie, have resided in Albuquerque for almost 50 years where he has been deeply involved in the community. Everett served as President of the Albuquerque Little Theatre and as a long-time volunteer for Albuquerque's Meals on Wheels program. He was a member of the New Mexico Petroleum Marketers Association, an active member of Tanoan Country Club, and a cofounder of the Jackie McGehee Young Artists' Competition. Everett was a Thirty-Second Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, recognized recently for 50 years of membership.
Survivors include Everett's wife of 73 years, Jackie S. McGehee; his daughter, Meredith McGehee; his grandson, Timothy Drumtra; and his son-in-law, Jeff Drumtra. Everett is pre-deceased by his son, Charles Lawrence (Larry) McGehee.
