Carl Herman Mauney passed away March 29, 2017. He was born on September 17, 1931 in Hickory, NC to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fisher Mauney. He graduated from North Carolina State University. He married Emily Fisher on June 20, 1953, and they moved to Albuquerque soon afterward.
He is survived by his wife, Marina de Vos Mauney; son, Carl F. Mauney II, son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Beverly Mauney, daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Scott Simmelink; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lynne Mauney, sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Bill Berkeley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hilbert Cobb and Sue Fisher; grandchildren, Chris, Brandon and Lisa, Sarah and Mitchell, Rachel and Jon, Andrew, and Denise and Josh; and great-grandchildren, Baylee, Bryant, Kennedy, Luke and Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Emily Fisher Mauney; parents, Carl and Catherine Mauney; in-laws, Hilbert Adam and Ethel Fisher; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Mauney.
He spent his 37-year career at Sandia National Laboratories. He devoted his life to his family, church, and community activities. He was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, ARCA, Bethany College, Presbyterian Hospital Foundation, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation and the American Cut Glass Association. He prided himself on being a philanthropist that had deep faith and a love for organizations that focused on serving others.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, 87112.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to ARCA Foundation, 11300 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, 87112, or Bethany College, 335 E. Swensson St., Lindsborg, KS, 67456.
