Buddie Gene Chappell passed away peacefully on Saturday January 10, 2015, after battling a long-term illness. Buddie was born in Encino, NM on May 7, 1931. Buddie was a lifelong resident of New Mexico, living in Albuquerque and Corrales, after spending time in the Air Force. He was married to Mary Jone Harrington Chappell for 51 years. Before she passed, the couple spent time flying their airplane, supporting the arts, building a family cabin in Colorado, traveling, and raising a devoted family. Buddie received two bachelor's degrees from the University of New Mexico: a BA in Business and a BS in civil engineering. He worked for Albuquerque Gravel products while attending college and eventually became president of the company - a position he held for 12 years. When he retired, he and Jone spent a lot of time traveling between the homes of their six grandchildren and taking many cruises. Buddie is survived by his son, Ned Chappell and his wife, Jeannie; daughters, Deborah Chappell and Dorothy Chappell; his grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Packard, Elise Derek and Sean Chappell, and Travis Schroeder, and one great-grandchild, Jayden Christensen. A Memorial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University, with interment at Sunset Memorial Park to follow. The family will hold a reception at Buddie's home in Corrales, following the service.
