Bronson Joe Durán (89), was born in Ocate, New Mexico to Daniel and Adelita Durán. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on January 1, 2024.
In memory of Bronson, a man of varied talents and simplicity, whose love for music resonated through the melodies of his guitar, harmonica, piano, and accordion. A former logger turned skilled mechanic, he took immense pride in his ability to mend and maintain, embodying the essence of diligence and dedication. His relentless work ethic was a testament to his devotion to his children, having tirelessly juggled three jobs to provide for his family's well-being. Being one of fourteen siblings, his life's journey was firmly rooted in family bonds that shaped his beginnings and continued to define his story until the very end. In his later years, Bronson found solace in quiet moments on the front porch, engaging in heartfelt conversations with passersby. Yet, amidst his many pursuits, his truest joy came from his family. A beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he cherished the warmth of family gatherings. His sweet tooth was known to all, a shared love for desserts binding moments together. He played a pivotal role in shaping a new generation among family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of hard work that inspired many. Bronson's memory lives on, and he will be remembered not only for his multifaceted talents but for his unwavering commitment to his family and the simple joys that illuminated his life.
He is survived by his wife of many years, Cecilia Durán; brothers, Wilfred Durán (Albuquerque, NM) and Manuel Durán (Colbran, CO); sister, Joy Vigil (Springer, NM); children, Bronson Durán (Margaret), Theresa Saenz (Kurt), Dennis, and Monica Durán; grandchildren, Tatianna Durán, Ivan Durán (Renee), Bronson Durán, Ean Durán, Matthew Durán, Sevilla Durán, Loren Saenz, and Shante Gonzalez; and great-granddaughter, Layla Durán.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mae Bustos (Springer, NM), Gloria Trujillo (Springer, NM), Josephine Romero (Albuquerque, NM), Minne Valdez (Cheyenne, WY), Olivia Chapparo (Cheyenne, WY), Nora Sisneros (Cheyenne, WY), Stella DeHererra (Cheyenne, WY), Elmer Durán (Ocate, NM), Daniel Durán (Ocate, NM) and Alex Durán (Kissimmee, FL).
He will be missed greatly; may he rest in peace.
Services will be held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM on January 13, 2024. 11:00am - Rosary, Mass and Reception.
