Brian G. Salazar, 26, was born March 3, 1994 to Ernest Salazar and Valerie Pacheco in Las Vegas, NM “The real Las Vegas”.
Brian was a graduate of Tularosa High School in 2012- after graduating High School, Brian immediately attended The New Mexico Corrections Training Academy (NMCTA). Starting his career in July of 2012 at the Penitentiary of New Mexico (PNM). He was a devoted member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT); a Defensive Tactic Instructor at NMCTA; a team leader on CERT; and a Sergeant at PNM. He fearlessly took on any task he faced and excelled beyond expectation. Brian held himself to a standard to always do his best because his name was on it. He took pride in everything he did and lived by the words “Como los hombres”. Having received numerous awards, training certificates and honorable achievements, his career abruptly ended with his passing on Friday, August 14, 2020. Above all else he was the best dad, most supportive husband, mentor, and friend to so many.
He is survived by his wife (ball and chain) Montana Salazar (Paxton); his 6 year old daughter, Madisyn Brooke; 2 year old son, Mason Brian; his parents; his brother, Isaac Salazar; his uncle and mentor, Daniel Salazar (wife Kathryn); numerous loving relatives; in-laws; and his very best friend, Daniel Gonzales.
A Memorial Service honoring Brian will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Santa Maria de la Paz in Santa Fe, NM. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with reception to follow at the Fraternal Order of Police in Santa Fe, NM.
