Brent Evans Boyack, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away after a short, serious illness on November 9, 2024, at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brent wasborn on June 10, 1940, in Provo, Utah to Harold Joshua and Dona Fay Evans Boyack.
Brent spent his childhood and growing up years in Provo where, as a teenager, he worked as a janitor for the Provo City Schools learning to work hard. He graduated from Provo High School where he met the love of his life, Marcia Wiser. Brent and Marcia were married on June 9, 1961 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were blessed with four children: Kevin, Chad, Ward and Stacy.
Brent attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah; then moved on to Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, for graduate school. His work in nuclear reactor safety took him first to General Atomic in San Diego, California, and then to the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The family enjoyed the many activities in California including spending time at the beach; then enjoying a completely different set of activities in the mountains of New Mexico where skiing together was perhaps a favorite. Brent enjoyed very much the wonderful cherished friendships gained in both locations.
Brent loved to write and has recorded his thoughts and activities in journals throughout the years producing a family history highlighting each of their children, a volume containing the experiences during the pandemic, and a book of his own reflections, 400 pages, which he has assigned his children to read. He and Marcia enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the world at times taking bicycles with them.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent time serving many people in various responsibilities in his church. After retirement He and Marcia embarked on a new lifestyle of serving missions for their church - five Full-time away from home missions including one in a prison and one in England and numerous Church Service missions, some away and some from home. He learned to research Family History, enjoyed doing so and embarked on an effort to connect soldiers and sailors lost in WWI with their families in the Family Search database.
He loved family and cherished the times that his family could all be together. One special
highlight was their annual family reunion held most often in Pagosa Springs, Colorado where he could spend his "Tender Moments" with individual grandchildren. Brent always had a sense of humor, enjoyed teasing, and even when his jokes failed he would use the phrase "I am funny in my own eyes."
Brent is survived by his wife Marcia; his four children - Kevin Boyack (Christie) of Albuquerque, NM, Chad Boyack (Allison) of Tucson, AZ, Ward Boyack (Amy) of Orem, UT, Stacy Devenport (Jake) of Albuquerque, NM; his twenty two grandchildren - Cameron Boyack (Crystal), Quinn Boyack (Bethany), Tyler Boyack (Kasey), Cassi Wilson (Evan), Evan Boyack (Rachelle), Taylor Boyack (Catherine), McKay Boyack, Caleb Boyack (Ashley), Tanner Boyack (Ellie), Corey Devenport (Anna), Jared Devenport (Joy), Jocelyn Colfack (Cameron), Gwen Boyack, Ryan Boyack, Eric Devenport (Sydney), Tatum Boyack, Annika Boyack, Tori Boyack, Nathan Devenport, Maggie Boyack, Eliza Boyack, Reagan Devenport; and his seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Boyack, and his parents.
