Captain Brent Lee Warren was born on July 18, 1981 in Clovis, New Mexico and passed away on October 20, 2014 in El Paso, Texas. Brent was the beloved son of Sheri Moon and the late Craig Moon, USAF Retired. On April 12, 2014, Brent was married to Stacey Martin Warren and became a proud parent to children Jacob and Jessica. Additional family members include his brother, Commander Brandon Warren, USN; Grandmother Myrna Moberly, Forrest and Julie Smith, Robert and Jan Moberly, Thomas Moberly, Elliott and Sarah Moberly and their children, Reed, Logan and Alexis. Brent graduated from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1999 where he lettered in Lacrosse, co-captained the varsity football team and competed on the varsity weightlifting team. During his senior year, he was voted "best smile" by his classmates. In 2003, Brent earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. Always a gifted athlete, Brent excelled in college sports, including football, varsity rugby and wrestling. Brent was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army in December, 2003. Following completion of the Officers' Basic Training course, he volunteered to serve with the Louisiana National Guard Unit as a combat platoon leader in Baghdad, Iraq. Following his tour of duty in Iraq, he was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas. In February, 2007, he deployed for a second tour of duty in Iraq. During these tours, Brent was honored with numerous awards for his exceptional service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. In 2010, he became Company Commander for the Comanche Troop 2/1 Cavalry. His last assignment was working as an Operations Officer, "Trail Boss" on the NIE Program at Fort Bliss, Texas. Brent will always be remembered by his Army colleagues as a "soldier's soldier." To his family and friends, he will be remembered as a gentle giant with a huge heart, sensitive spirit, quick smile and a loving, kind and compassionate soul. If you ever received a hug from Brent, you knew you were wrapped in love. Now his family and friends wrap him in their love as they send him on to his savior, Jesus Christ. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, at the Bella Vista Baptist Church, 2800 Louisiana Blvd, NE, Albuquerque, NM. There will be a celebration of Brent's life immediately following the service at the family home. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at a date to be determined.
