Brenda Gale Underwood (Kobayashi), beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends.
Brenda was born in Julesberg, CO to Charles "Charlie" and Keiko "Kay" Kobayashi. They moved to Albuquerque, NM when she was in kindergarten. The family then moved to Estancia, NM where she attended grade school and ultimately graduated from Estancia High School. Brenda was married in 1983 and her son, Jacob, was born in 1986. She forged a very successful sales and marketing career in the information technology field, starting with Jewel Osco Supermarket and finally settling on Integrity Networking Systems where she withstood two major acquisitions by Technology Integration Group (TIG), then Converge Technology Solutions.
Brenda was known for her warmth and generosity, always ready with a listening ear and a comforting embrace. Her presence brought light and positivity to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
Brenda possessed a remarkable gift for forming deep and meaningful connections with others. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of countless individuals and forged enduring friendships that would last a lifetime. Her magnetic personality and genuine warmth drew people to her effortlessly. She had a rare ability to make everyone feel valued and understood, creating a sense of belonging wherever she went. Brenda was unwavering in her loyalty, support, and unconditional love. She celebrated the joys, comforted in times of sorrow, and stood by her family and friends through thick and thin.
She cherished her friendships dearly and made it a priority to nurture and cultivate these bonds. Whether it was a spontaneous adventure, a heartfelt conversation, or simply sharing a moment of quiet companionship, she treasured every moment spent with her beloved friends.
Brenda's love for dogs extended beyond mere companionship; it was a reflection of her generous and nurturing spirit. She dedicated countless hours to caring for and advocating on behalf of these beloved animals, embodying the true essence of empathy and compassion. Those who knew Brenda could attest to her remarkable ability to connect with dogs on a profound level. She had a special knack for understanding their needs, offering comfort, and forming lifelong bonds that transcended words.
Brenda's legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us every day.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Father, Charlie, Mother, Kay, brother-in-law, Bob, and golden retriever fur babies, Levi and Jake.
She is survived by her beloved golden retriever, Rosie, son, Jacob Underwood, sister, Marcia Togami, brother, Calvin Kobayashi (Mary), nieces, Abbey Miksch (Jeff) and Laura Togami (Rohn), nephews Kori Kobayashi and John Togami (Trey), great-nieces, Sophia, Lilly, Olivia and Evelyn, great-nephews, Jackson and Robert, dear friends Janet and Lisa, many treasured Kobayashi and Otsuka cousins and relatives, and many cherished friends who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank the countless friends that stopped by to spend time with Brenda over the past few weeks evoking memories, laughter, and smiles across the room; the extended family that brought food, spent time by her side and provided thoughts and prayers; and to Dean Gallegos and the staff at Compassus Hospice for their gentle, loving care.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at 11:00am at Hoffmantown Church (8888 Harper Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (online at www.goldenrescue.com or mail to 15350 W. 72nd Ave., Arvada, CO 80007) in Brenda's name and honor.
Brenda will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
