Brenda Thompson

November 14, 1941 — March 15, 2025

Brenda Lee Thompson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, at the age of 83. She is rejoicing in her heavenly home.

Born on November 11, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama, Brenda graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1959. She married her high school sweetheart, Clark G. Flynn, on May 20, 1960. Brenda made a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication.

She built a career in public service, retiring as an accountant with the U.S. Department of Energy. Outside of work, Brenda found joy in traveling in the RV, knitting, painting, reading, gardening, and, most of all, spending cherished time with her family.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Clara Murrell; her sister, Margaret Bredemeyer; her brother, Charlie McMellin; and her husband of 34 years, Arthur Russell Thompson.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts: her friend and partner, Guy Gardner; her son, Monty C. Flynn (Carol), her daughter, Karen Flynn Costa; her grandchildren, Luc J. Flynn (Maria), Jessica N. Chittenden, and Kendra L. Abrams (Nicholas); and her great-grandchildren, Beau Abrams and Jonah Flynn. She is also survived by her sister, Ann McMellin; her brother-in-law, Roger Thompson; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schoff. Brenda is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched deeply.

A longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brenda will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly.

A small memorial service will be held with family and friends at a future date.

May she rest in peace, surrounded in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
