Bonnie Lou Simmons

Bonnie L. Simmons passed peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, August 31, 2022, surrounded by her family. She passed after a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease.

Bonnie was born on July 21, 1932, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Gerald and Grace Walton. She was an only child who grew up in Konawa, Oklahoma and went to college at Oklahoma A&M. There she met her lifelong love, Richard Simmons.  They were married on September 3, 1953. Bonnie and Rich moved to New Mexico in 1958 and made Albuquerque their home.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents and her younger son William Richard Simmons.  She leaves behind her loving husband Richard Simmons, son Gerald Simmons (Wife Mary Ann O’Keefe) and three grandsons: Matthew, William and Thomas.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico Chapter-Albuquerque.
