Bonnie Sue Hardin, 87, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 2, 2024. She was born to John and Verna Hicks of Burdette, Arkansas on November 2, 1936.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Opal Parnell (Bob), Marion Garner (Gene), Nettie Jones, brother James Hicks (Bonnie), her beloved husband G.G. Hardin, and son Jerry Hardin.
Left behind to cherish her memory are the many nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. She was always excited to have them visit and go on many trips with them.
Bonnie married the love of her life, G. G. Hardin. They were married for 51 years until the time of G's passing in 2006.
Together they built a great life. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1960 when G was stationed there and decided to call it home. G retired from the U.S Navy after serving 20 years as Chief Petty Officer E-7. Together they raised a son, Jerry Hardin.
After G's retirement from military service in 1967, G and Bonnie purchased and operated a record store and recording studio which was their family business for many years. Their son, Jerry, went on to become a talented and loved radio personality.
Bonnie was a Hall of Fame bowler. She competed nationally and qualified for TEAM USA trials twice in her bowling career. She was the winner of the Western Open Doubles in 1969, a member of the Team Scratch winner, Doubles Scratch winner and Handicap winner in 1979 and her Team won the AWBA scratch event in 1993. In 1996, she was inducted into the US Bowling Congress (USBC) Hall of Fame for Superior Performance, an honor that she was very proud of. During her active bowling years, she was a member of WIBC, AWBA, 200 Club, 600 Club, and Cooperstown Women Bowlers.
Bonnie was so blessed to have had wonderful friends and people in her life. They took care of her, made many visits to check on her, and helped with whatever needs that she had.
She was a devout Christian and member of Heights Christian Church of Albuquerque, New Mexico. When she became unable to attend in person she enjoyed listening to the services from her home and receiving visits from fellow church members. She has left us with wonderful memories of family and travel and so much love. Bonnie always had a bright smile on her face. We find comfort that she is at peace with her Lord. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, 10:30 a.m. at Heights Christian Church, 6935 Comanche Rd. NE, 87110. A Burial will follow where she will be laid to rest with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
