Bobby Ray French

Bobby R. French, 87, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bobby was born January 12, 1931 to Cecil and Connie (Megee) French in Bigelow, Arkansas, the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Weiner Arkansas High School in 1948, where he was a member of the football team.  Bobby met and married his beautiful bride, Kathryn (McArthur) French, in Little Rock Arkansas in 1950.

Bobby served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Army National Guard during his college years at Arkansas State University, where he received his degree in accounting. He joined the Internal Revenue Service and relocated his family to New Mexico in 1960.  He served as the Southeastern New Mexico Regional Group Supervisor for the majority of his career and retired in 1989.

In his spare time he enjoyed, golfing, fishing, bee keeping, financial research, gardening and spending time with his family.  He was also an accomplished electrician and handy man and often helped family and friends with repair and helped build many homes.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Kathryn (McArthur) French; son, Gregory (Ruth Channel) French; daughter -in-law, Clarissa Feldman French; daughters, Sherry (Pat) Cummins and Patricia (Cliff) Nail; grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Daniel, Allison, Brian, Ryan, Elizabeth, Janet, and Sammy; and great-grandchildren, Zion and Arik.  He is also survived by his sister, Reta Pierce and his brothers Joe and Albert.  Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Connie and Cecil; his brother Jimmy and son David.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the walk to end Alzheimer’s Northridge Team at http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2018/NM-NewMexico?fr_id=11388&pg=team&team_id=457181#team-roster of which Bobby and Kathryn were members and participants.
