Bobbie Sanders

Bobbie (Bob, B.K.) Sanders, 89, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on May 19, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1927 in Portales, NM, to John Maury and Irva ​Taylor Sanders.

Bob was in the US Navy and assigned to the USS Suisson in April of 1946 when he met Dorothy Fifick, who he married eight months later. He earned a BS from Eastern New Mexico University and a MS from New Mexico State University in 1956. He moved his family to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1957 where he worked at Convair, which later became General Dynamics. In 1960 the family moved to Dayton, Ohio and worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an Aeronautical Engineer. His career working for the Air Force allowed him to travel to many places in the United States and overseas. He and Dorothy remained in Dayton near family until 1997 when they moved to Bob's hometown of Portales, NM. They relocated to Lubbock, TX in 1997 near their son, Moe and his wife. In January, 2017 they made their final move to Albuquerque, NM and resided with their daughter Sue and her husband where Bobbie passed.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Sanders; daughters, Martha (Marty) Klopfenstein (Tim) of Xenia,OH; son, Maury (Moe) Sanders (Sue) of Lubbock, TX, Sue Smith(Everett) of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Dorothy Elaine (Sissy) Smith of Rio Rancho, NM and Linda McIntire of Roswell, NM; grandsons, Aaron Smith, Brian Smith (Amber),Timothy Klopfenstein, Matthew Klopfenstein; granddaughter, Laura Smith; great-granddaughters, Charisma Barnes(Smith), Chloe Smith, Carly Smith, Elena Klopfenstein, Helena Key; great-grandsons, Samuel Klopfenstein and Aidan Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Maury Sanders Jr and Larry O Sanders. Cremation has taken place.
