Billie Mae Lewis, age 83, a resident of the Center for Ageless Living in Los Lunas, NM for the past three years, died Friday, September 15, 2017, of complications with diabetes. She is survived by her children, Linda Rue Herrera and husband, Richard, and Burl Dean Lewis and wife, Barbara; three grandchildren, Shane Lewis, Shelby Herrera, and Travis Lewis; and numerous other relatives and friends. Billie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Vesta Jarrett; sisters, Betty Norman and Donna Poulin; and brother, Vernon Jarrett.
She was born in 1933 in Columbus, KS and came to New Mexico at the age of seven months. Billie Mae loved embroidery, windmills, and hummingbirds. But more than anything, she loved her grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas. Interment will follow at Barton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Billie Mae requested that you plant a rose bush in her memory. Her family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and residents of the Center for Ageless Living in Los Lunas and Kindred Hospice.
