Beverly L. Geck, our beloved mother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the age of 86.
Beverly was born in Laramie, Wyoming, on Sunday, April 5, 1936, to Donald and Edna Barratt. Her family moved to Albuquerque before Beverly's senior year where she graduated from Highland High School. During that year, she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Geck. They married that fall and moved to Hollywood, CA, to attend Art Center College. After completing school, they returned to Albuquerque to raise their family.
Beverly lived her life for her Lord, her family, and her friends. Beverly worked as the church secretary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church and was active in the Mariners Ministry with Bill as well as the Women's Ministries. A Women's Conference at Purdue University led Beverly to an adventure that she would dedicate her life to for the next several decades. A group of women from Immanuel Presbyterian Church returned from this conference with a call from the Lord to begin a community outreach in Albuquerque. Beverly was an integral part of what is now called Albuquerque Meals on Wheels. Beverly worked for Meals on Wheels for over 25 years and was their first executive director.
Beverly retired and filled her time doting on her family. Family dinners, birthday celebrations, holidays, shopping trips, slumber parties, and our family trips to Kauai brought her so much joy. Her greatest gift to us as a family is the time she spent praying for each one of us.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband William Geck in February 2021.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Debra Geck Moss and husband David; her son, William and his wife, Mary, all of Albuquerque. Her sister, Marcia Murray of Pittsburgh, PA, and her brother, Donald Barratt (Mary) of Albuquerque. Grandchildren, Krista Moss Sharpe (Eason) of Piedmont, SC, Kayla Moss Skartwed (Daniel) of Albuquerque, Michael Moss (Caroline) of Sparks, NV, Emma Geck Drake (Jordan) of Lawton, OK, and William Geck of Albuquerque. Great-grandchildren, Levi Drake, Clara Sharpe, David James Skartwed, Corbin Drake, and Josie Drake.
Beverly is also survived by her nieces, extended family, and friends who are family (the crowd).
