Betty Turflinger, 88, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Beehive Assisted Living in Albuquerque, NM, with her two daughters by her side. She was born on May 6, 1926 in Bloomington, Indiana to George and Violet (Breeden) Halstead. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Bloomington High School, and attended Indiana University before marrying Robert J. Turflinger on June 18, 1949. She worked at the Indiana University Admissions office, was a long time member of Fairview Methodist Church, and was an avid I.U. basketball and football fan. Due to declining health, Betty relocated to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to her daughter, Sue, in 2010. Initially, she lived at Paloma Landing Retirement Community in Albuquerque and moved to Beehive Homes in 2013. Betty is survived by her son, Thomas (Francine) Turflinger, of Centerville, VA; and her daughters, Sharon (Brad) Bartlett, of Dallas, TX, and Sue (Dave) Ota, of Albuquerque, NM. She also leaves five grandchildren, Erika, Adam, and Alana Turflinger and Alex and Ashlynn Ota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson Philip Turflinger, her step-mother Naomi Halstead, and sister Juanita Ryan.
