Betty Shaw

Betty Shaw, age 90, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Betty is survived by her sister, Ann Garman of Lemoore, California; daughter, Pam Wilkinson and husband, John, of Salinas, California; son, Carl Shaw, and wife, Karen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Steve Shaw, and his partner, Amy Hock, of Canal Winchester, Ohio; granddaughter, Kiana Amaral and husband, Chad, (great-grandchildren Colton, Addison and Reese) all of Salinas, California; granddaughter, Michaela Johndrow and husband, Matt (great-granddaughter, Elliott and baby J on the way) all of Grosse Pointe, Michigan; grandson, Jack Wilkinson and wife, Montel, (great-grandchildren Matilda, Henry and Beatrice) all of Salinas, California; grandson, Blake Wilkinson of Salinas, California; grandson, Jason Shaw, and wife, Kellie, (great-grandson, Jacob) all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Staci Blanc, and husband, Aaron, of Albuquerque, New Mexico plus numerous and beloved extended family members, friends, and neighbors.

Betty was born on October 28, 1927, in Empire, Ohio to Pete and Anna Guman. She spent her formidable years growing up in Prattsburgh, New York, before moving to Los Angeles, California, in the late forties. She married Carl K. Shaw Sr. in 1951 and quickly started a family and various business adventures that ultimately brought them to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late sixties. In the mid eighties, she returned to  California to live with her daughter, Pam and family in Brawley for a time, and then spent the latter part of her years back in Albuquerque, New Mexico, living near her son, Carl, and his family.

Betty will be remembered for her tireless work ethic, her love of grandchildren and dogs, casinos, and metal detecting, garage sales, crossword puzzles, cooking, cleaning and gardening - she had the greenest of green thumbs. We will miss her wicked sense of humor and her quick wit. She was a fighter... right up until the end and packed a lot of life into the 90 years God gave her.

A celebration of her long and colorful life will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH- Wyoming 7121 Wyoming, NE Albuquerque, NM.
