BETTY ALBYN MURRAYAge 89, passed away on December 26, 2012, after a long illness, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on October 7, 1923, in Detroit, MI and was raised in Grosse Pointe Park Michigan where she excelled in school, graduating a year early with honors. She worked for the National Bank of Detroit and met her late husband, Alexander Stewart Murray (who was a pilot in the British Navy) at a dance on Grosse Isle during WWII. After her marriage in 1944, she lived in England and Scotland, returning to Michigan in 1949, where she lived until her retirement in Albuquerque. She was an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Taylor, MI and Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. She loved to travel and continued to do so well into her 80's. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor and her passion for books and historic architecture. Betty is survived by her three children, Melinda (Lynda) Alexandra Cook and Constantine Foukas, Alexander Stewart Murray, Jr., and Diane Blomberg Murray, and Alan Thomas Grahame Murray and Marcelo Jara; her beloved sister-in-law, Nancy Cosby Albyn; and her great lifelong friend, Virginia Henry. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ronald Stewart Cook and Judy Stevens Cook; Stephen Charles Cook and Janet Quintana Cook; Christine Markland and Brandon Markland; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
