Betty Mersereau

MERSEREAU, BETTY J.Age 86, of Albuquerque, died January 6, 2013. Betty was born April 17, 1926 in Daisetta, TX to Sherman and Sybil Early. Betty joined the U.S. Navy Waves in 1943, at the age of 17. She met her beloved husband, Robert C. Mersereau, a U.S. Navy sailor in 1947. They were married on June 21, 1947 in Washington, D.C. a mere three weeks after they met. Betty lived on the east coast in the mid-west and California, finally settling with Robert in Las Cruces, NM until his death in 2007. After Robert's death, Betty bought a home in Albuquerque where she resided with her eldest daughter, Judith A. Mersereau until her passing on January 6, 2013. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, a collector of knick knacks, a lover of felines, an avid lover of the Arts, and a donor to Popejoy Hall. Betty is survived by her two loving daughters, Judith A. Mersereau of Albuquerque and Denise R. Whitmire of Santa Rosa, CA; four grandchildren, Delaney Gehrke, Jason S. Whitmire, Jessica Lund, Josie R. Baker; and six great grandchildren, Austin, Conner, Alijah, Emmett, Avery Rose and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Sybil Early; one daughter, Linda K. Mersereau; her brothers, Louis and William Early and her devoted husband, Robert C. Mersereau. Betty will be cremated and interred with her husband, Robert in their family vault at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery located in Las Cruces, NM on their wedding anniversary in June 2013.
