Betty-Mae Hartman passed away on October 24, 2018.
She was born on December 7, 1920 to Leopold and Beatrice Ilfeld Meyer. Other than for college and time away with her husband during WWII she was a life-long resident of Albuquerque. She married Leonard Hartman in 1943. They were a great team. Leonard passed away in 1968. Betty-Mae was a very active community volunteer for causes she loved, among them the Albuquerque Federation for the Blind, Girl Scouts, American Business Women's Association, and Sister Cities, and she worked diligently with the school board and the legislature to establish a Career Enrichment Center for APS. She was a Silver Horizons Honoree in 2009 in recognition of her contributions.
She’s survived by her daughter, Susan Hartman of Farmington; her son, Roger; granddaughters, Jennifer Nissen, Teri Farrell Bage, and Tracie Stein; grandson, Robert Hartman; her brother, E. Gerald Meyer; and several great-grandchildren and nephews. The family thanks the marvelous staff at Manzano del Sol for the superb care she received for the last years of her life.
At her request, there will be no services. Her ashes will be interred with Leonard's at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances may be made to the Girl Scouts or your favorite charity.
