Betty (Spafford) Greenbaum, 84, passed away on August 27, 2021. Betty was born in Albuquerque August 26, 1937, the daughter of Bertrum and Christine Spafford.
After graduation from Valley High School she married Nash Mares and "saw the world" as an Air Force spouse while raising their four children before returning to Albuquerque in 1973.
After being on her own and working as an administrative assistant for several construction contracting companies, Betty met and married Sheldon Greenbaum and began a long career as an employee of the City, where she continued to work full-time until her recent illness this summer.
Betty enjoyed going out to dinner with friends and family as often as possible; she loved music and dancing, and took great pride in her garden.
She was the real matriarch of her family and adored her grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her brother, Charles Spafford; sons, Cordelle Mares and John Mares; and by granddaughter, Olivia Mares.
She is survived by daughter, Margo Buksa of Albuquerque; son, Frank Mares (Jane) of Summerfield, Florida; and by grandchildren, Christopher Buksa, Kyle Buksa and Sara Mares.
