Betty D. Gracey

Betty D. Gracey, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 17, 2017.

Betty was born July 27, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Frank and Myrtle Whitenack. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1956.

Betty is preceded in death by Pete, her loving and devoted husband of 61 years; two infant daughters, Sandra Lee and Dawn Elaine; her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by four sons, Robert and wife Suzanne, William and wife Kristine, Stephen and Michael and wife, Barbara; five grandchildren, Amy Gracey, Amber Lynch and Scott, Shawn and Lauren Gracey, as well as three great-grandchildren, Emma and Charley Lynch and Lincoln Gracey.

Betty was devoted to family and carried a deep respect and love for her roots in Georgetown, Colorado, where her childhood home remains a favorite gathering place for her family and friends.

She was curious about the world around her and her sense of adventure took her and her husband Pete to 49 states and to Pete’s beloved country of Ireland. They traveled many times to Mexico and throughout the West with their lifelong friends.

Betty was a competitive spirit and enjoyed being active with her dear friends in tennis and bowling. She and Pete were strong supporters of Lobo Athletics, including their attendance at out-of-town tournaments.

The family extends special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Presbyterian Home Hospital and Palmilla Senior Care for their professionalism, which allowed Betty to live out her life with respect and dignity.

Betty’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside. Reverend Mark Denton will officiate.
