Betty Jane Dorko died at her home on Friday, June 11, 2021. Betty Jane was born Elizabeth Jane Jurtz, daughter of Mary Jane (Serrer) and Robert R. Kurtz on March 26, 1936. She is survived by her husband, Ernest A. Dorko; son Thomas Steven. She also leaves behind 4 sisters, Barbara Fecher of Beavercreek, OH, Sue Shepard of Centerville, OH, Margaret Johnson and her husband Thomas, of Centerville, OH, Julie Eads and her husband, Mark, of Germantown, OH; brothers, Robert G. Kurtz and Richard Kurtz and his wife Donna, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Betty Jane earned her Bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Dayton and her Master’s in Guidance and Counseling at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. The many interests in her life include art, philosophy, books, and volunteer work at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming, followed by a visitation until 7:00 p.m. A mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont St NE, on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to immediately follow at FRENCH-Wyoming. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE, at 1:00 p.m.
