Beth G. Morgan

Beth Graves Morgan, 96, of Albuquerque, passed away in her home on February 9, 2018. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Morgan of Austin, Texas; nieces, Patti Spencer, Maryle Barber, Helen Miller; and numerous great, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ernest N. Morgan; sister, Helen Doris Jackson, and brother-in-law, Raymond Jackson.

Beth was born on January 22, 1922, in Somerville, Texas and moved to Albuquerque as a child with her parents, Anadel Gafford Graves and Banks Demar Graves. She was an alum of Albuquerque High School, received a BA at the University of New Mexico and studied with art teachers across the United States and Canada. Beth loved art and was lucky to make it her life’s work. She created in various mediums, including beveled and stained glass, designing skylights and large windows, resin and her ultimate passion, watercolor. She was a member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Square dancing and traveling with her husband were favorite pastimes. Music was an important part of Beth’s life, and her house was often filled with the music of Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline. Watching and feeding birds brought much joy to Beth’s life and she worked hard to create a natural habit for wildlife at her home. Beth had a sense of humor, was playful and loved a good April Fool’s prank.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Chester T. French Memorial Chapel, at 924 Menaul Boulevard, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Entombment will be private.
