Bertha B. Felland

Bertha B.Felland, age 76, passed away on June 3, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by family. She was born July 26, 1940 in Fort Defiance, AZ to Peter and Bernice Bowman.
Bertha attended her early education at Bonita Canyon Public School. Her schooling continued at Navajo Methodist Mission School in Farmington, NM. She graduated in 1964. She attended Fort Lewis A&M College in Durango, CO. She continued at New Mexico Western University in Silver City, NM. She obtained her BS degree in Home Economics; after graduation she taught Home Economics and PE in Noxon, MT and Santa Fe, NM. She moved to Iowa Falls, IA where she lived for 35 years and raised her family. She was active in church events, musical groups, and with the college community. She relocated to Albuquerque in 1997 and remained until her passing. She is survived by her sons, Jon D. Felland (Marshalltown, IA) and Tye N. Felland (Albuquerque, NM), sisters Tillie B. Sutton (Window Rock, AZ) and Elsie B. Chase (Ft. Defiance, AZ).
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Bernice Bowman, her sister Mary Louise, and her brothers Kenneth J. Bowman, Ellison Bowman, and Emmett Bowman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE Albuquerque, NM.
