Bertha Dix, age 95, a resident of New Mexico since 1957 and most recently Los Lunas, died Monday, January 6, 2014. She is survived by her children, Richard Dix and wife, Diane of Denver, CO, Barbara Swadley and very dear friend, Fernando Turrietta of Los Lunas, NM, and Everett Dix, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Placitas, NM; grandchildren, Richard Dix, Jr., Karen Smith, Bill Gorum, Jeff Gorum and wife, Kathy, Kelly Dunbar and husband, Will, and Matthew Dix and wife, Amber; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Lau and wife, Mary and Herbert Lau; and numerous other relatives and friends. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Dix, in 1995; parents, Wilhelm and Henrietta Lau; and eight brothers and sisters. She was born in 1918 in McMillan, WI and married Everett Dix in 1941 in Milwaukee. They moved to Albuquerque because of Everett's health. Bertha dedicated her life taking care of her family. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and family and was a tremendous cook. Bertha was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her Life will be held Friday, January 10, 2014, 4:00 p.m., at Valley Lutheran Church, 3259 New Mexico 47, Los Lunas.
