Bernard Lucas Linhart

d. August 15, 2017

Bernard L. Linhart, age 75, devoted family man who always brought a smile with his cantankerous character, commitment to selflessness and a true fighting spirit. Bernie passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 15, 2017 one day before his 76th birthday after a six year battle with cancer.

Mr. Linhart was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving from 1959 – 1979. Bernie was the 2nd enlisted volunteer in the 11th Air Assault Division that later became the 1st Calvary Air Mobil. He finished his service as a board certified Biomedical Engineer at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. “Pops” was an avid member of the ABQ Coin Club, willing volunteer, and a special source of numismatic knowledge particularly regarding Morgan Silver Dollars. Mr. Linhart was a multiple NM State Fair Blue Ribbon recipient for his personal coin displays and was recognized by the governor of NM for his contribution to numismatic education and service in our state. Bernie enjoyed playing league slow pitch softball for many years and was one heck of a pitcher. Mr. Linhart married his sweetheart, Mary, in 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Mac and Stephen; daughter, Mollie; and “extra son” Ed; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Family and friends may come and join in the Celebration of Bernie’s life Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas Reception Center.
