Bernard Bruce Boecker, 89, of Albuquerque passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from a strong fight with cancer. He dedicated his life to his Savior Jesus Christ and peacefully left to his home in Heaven.
He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Ellie Boecker. They traveled many places and together enjoyed exploring the beauty and uniqueness of our world. They also built a beautiful home with a wonderful backyard that many enjoy.
His lifetime career as a radiation biologist allowed him to contribute his knowledge and expertise to the world's research on the effects of inhaled radiation. He earned his doctorate from the University of Rochester. He had many achievements including the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award from the Health Physics Society. He loved his lifetime work and his co-workers at the Inhalation Toxicology Research Institute for over 35 years.
Bruce was a loving and kind father to his children and grandchildren. His thoughtfulness and provision touched the whole Boecker family. His granddaughters lovingly called him "YeYe", and they regularly enjoyed ice cream together.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor Boecker; daughter, Nancy Boecker; son, Brian Boecker; daughter-in-law, Crystal Boecker; and granddaughters, Bayley Boecker, Isabella Boecker, and Ellie Rose Boecker.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Rd NE.
