Benny James Ruiz, Sr.

With heavy hearts the Ruiz Family would like to announce the passing of our beloved Benny James Ruiz, Sr.

Benny James Ruiz, Sr., known to most at BJ, passed away on May 16, 2024 at the age of 60. 

BJ was born on May 16, 1964, to Ben and Margaret Ruiz in Albuquerque, NM. He was a graduate of West Mesa High School class of 1982 and attended NM Tech School of Mining. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Melinda C. Ruiz; his children, Nina Calderon (Paul III), Andrea Jantz (Isaiah), Benny James, Jr. (Oso); his grandchildren, Paul IV, Jeremiah, Hailey, Hunter, Chloe, and Brayden; his father and mother, Ben and Margaret Ruiz; sister, Monica Ruiz (Ozzara) and his loving companion, his dog, Luna.

He will always be remembered as a man after Gods own heart. A warrior for Christ. He was an amazing part of the Body of Christ and the Lord's Church, not only sharing Christ with his family but also leading people to Christ. He never met a stranger.

His favorite place, where he found peace, was being at the cabin in Pecos, NM with his family, friends and his extended families. He loved to fish, hike and hunt in the Pecos. It brought him joy to just be with everyone.

Please join us in celebrating his life. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW Albuquerque, NM 87114. A reception to follow TBA.
