Benny Reardon Garcia, 91, died February 13, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; his children, Sylvia Garcia, Lawrence Garcia and wife, Mary, Christine Bullock and husband, Jim; stepchildren, Dan Thomas and wife, Diedra, Audrey Thomson and husband, David; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gumecindo and Aurelia Garcia; his first wife, Bernice; and all of his siblings.
At age 17 Benny chose to join the United States Navy and served our country during World War II. During WWII, Benny served on the US Aircraft Carrier, Savo Island and was engaged in the Battle of Leyte and the recapture of the Philippine Islands. While serving in the United States Air Force, Benny was present and observed the first Hydrogen Bomb test at Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands. Benny also served many years as a special agent in the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations and retired from the Military in 1969. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, Benny had multiple hobbies and activities to include woodworking, and extensive travel around the globe.
A Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 25, 2018, 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Celebration of Benny Garcia’s life will be held Monday, February 26, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas, followed by ennichement at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
