Benjamin G. "Benny" Salazar

Benjamin "Benny" G. Salazar, age 61, died Monday, September 22, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Esther, of Taos, NM; two daughters, Nichole Salazar-Conboy and husband, Kevin, and Naomi Salazar; grandchildren, Tiffany and Shaylah Conboy, all of Albuquerque; siblings, Rose Jaramillo and fiancAC., Michael, Theresa Garcia and husband, Freddy, Bobby Salazar and Ray Salazar; sister-in-law, Karen Kellovich Borrego; life-time friend and employee, Trinidad "Rudy" Martinez; and numerous other relatives and friends. Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Ramona Salazar; and brother, Charley Salazar. He was born in 1953 in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High. He married Esther Romero in 1971 and they lived in Albuquerque for 10 years where he worked in sales and management. In 1981 they moved to Taos where he owned and operated Ranchero Boot and Leather and Salazar Mobile Home Park. Benny enjoyed fishing in Pilar, and getting his therapy from the "pipe." He liked to sing, dance, and go to the races. Benny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and friends may visit Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry "Pope" Sanchez, Eddie Fernandez, John "Primo" Pacheco, Mike "Primo" Pacheco, Edward Sena, and Pete Montoya. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Jaramillo, Jacob Martinez, Vanessa Garcia-Perea, and Joshua Romero. Please visit Caringbridge.org in the name of Benny Salazar.
