Benjamin Duran

Benjamin E. Duran Jr., a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on December 15, 1962, in Albuquerque, Ben was a man who devoted himself to his family and his career with unwavering dedication.

He is survived by a loving circle of family, including his devoted wife Jennie, who stood beside him in love and partnership; his proud son Adam, and proud daughter-in-law Ashley, who provided him with the cherished title of 'papa' to his treasured grandchildren, Kanon and Reign. Ben also leaves behind his loving father, Benjamin Sr., and his loving and caring sisters, Janet and Laurie, along with her husband Henry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him and the many friends he made along the way. Preceding him in death are his loving mother, Emily, his amazing brother LeRoy, and his beautiful goddaughter, Desi.

Ben's favorite pastimes included playing pool with his brother and friends, a hobby that brought him great joy. He also cherished time spent camping and fishing with his family, embracing the beauty of nature and life's simple pleasures. One of Ben's greatest joys was playing golf, and he passed on that love to his son Adam, getting him started at a young age. The two would spend Wednesday afternoons together on the golf course, a tradition they maintained after school, creating memories that Adam will cherish forever.

Known for his quiet yet witty nature, Ben had a way of bringing subtle humor and warmth to every interaction. He had a kind heart, especially for those he held close, and his love extended beyond his family to the pound puppies he enjoyed rescuing and caring for.

Ben was the strong pillar of his family, always guiding them through life with love, wisdom, and unwavering support. His strength, compassion, and dedication served as a foundation for those he loved, and his presence will forever be missed.

Ben's professional life was marked by 40 years of service in the retail industry as a manager, where he was a familiar and trusted face at Furr's Supermarkets, Staples, and Total Wine and More. His work ethic, friendly and fair nature were hallmarks of his character and will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family invites those who knew Ben to gather in remembrance at a service to celebrate his life on September 20, 2024, at 10 a.m., located at French Mortuary, 9300 Golf Course Road NW, Albuquerque, NM. Reception will immediately follow the service with interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery after the reception. We find comfort in knowing that Ben's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
