Ben William Lingnau

August 22, 1928 — May 25, 2019

Ben Lingnau Jr. a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM and most recently of Los Lunas, NM, passed on Saturday, May 25, 2019 with his beloved wife, Annalu and daughter, Bonnie, at his side. Ben was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very sharp and witty man who always tried to make your face turn red or better, while making you laugh. If you saw a tall slender man walking about two clicks faster than most, sporting a big smile and a white sailor cap, you knew that was Ben. He was a kind and generous man with a big full heart ready to share his newest joke. Many times, the joke was on his grandkids. When walking into Ben’s and Annalu’s house he would announce “What are you doing at my house?”

He was always quick to pick up if someone was sad or a little down, he would pull open his pocket and offer you a piece of candy. You would often see him sitting by the fire eating nuts, watermelon or bananas which he was quick to offer you one or quick to share with Dinky, the family dachshund.

Ben worked many years at the family grocery store then went on to work in commercial refrigeration. He was a volunteer fireman and served in the mounted patrol. He was a lifelong and faithful member of the Lutheran Church. His hobbies included fly fishing, raising and showing Flemish rabbits, listening to his audio books and working on sudoku puzzles.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Ben and mother, Hazel Lingnau, and sister, Betty Janssen.
