Beckie Ann Garrett, age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 25th, 2023, after battling numerous health issues for the last several years. Beckie was born to Norma and Lamont Haynes on October 3, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina.
After a short stay in Greenville, Beckie and family moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1953 where she spent most of her childhood until her family moved west to the suburbs of Seattle in 1964. Beckie graduated from Mount Rainier High School in 1969 and attended Culver City Bible College where she made many friends with continued friendships until her passing. Beckie accepted a cooking position at Immanuel Mission School in 1973, soon after she met her best friend and love of her life, David, from Albuquerque and married on July 20, 1974, in Federal Way, Wash.
David and Beckie lived in Albuquerque NM where they welcomed 4 children and continued to live until her passing in 2023. David and Beckie joined First Baptist church in 1988 where Beckie began faithfully serving her church in the kitchen cooking for numerous church events and eventually transitioning into working in the church preschool for many, many years. Beckie retired in the summer of 2012 and continued to enjoy her life devoted to her faith, family, and grandkids.
Beckie is preceded in death by her parents, Norma, and Lamont Haynes; and beloved husband of 28 short years, David Garrett.
Beckie is survived by her 4 children, daughter Amy Powell of Mountainair, NM, son Ryan Garrett and wife Sharon of Grady, NM, son Jeff Garrett of Albuquerque, NM and daughter Stacey Otero and husband Phillip of Albuquerque, NM; 12 grandkids. Keenen Garrett, Jayden Garrett, Garion Powell, Jaden Powell, Kazne Garrett, Conner Powell, Kylan Powell, Jayce Garrett, Sharon Otero, Kennedy Otero, Greyson Otero, and Jordan Otero; siblings, Sue Foote and Husband Steve of Issaquah WA, Terry Haynes of Federal Way, WA, and Jan and husband Dennis of Federal Way, WA. Beckie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins spread across the US.
Memorial service for Beckie will be Friday, February 10th, 2023, at 11:00am at Albuquerque's First Baptist Church. 4101 Paseo Del Norte NW, Albuquerque, NM.
