Beatrice Padilla

Beatrice “Penny” Padilla, age 92, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Born the daughter of a Section Foreman of the Santa Fe Railroad, Penny, as she was called, moved with her family around the southwest. Her mother died when she was five years old and was raised with pride by her father and her many brothers. One day, when she was 18, as she was babysitting her brother’s children, she met the love of her life next door, Herminio Padilla of Los Padillas and fell in love. They married three months later and remained happily married for the next 52 years until her husband’s passing due to cancer in 1998.

Beatrice is survived by her only son, Herman Padilla; her two grandchildren, Caleb Padilla and Francesca Fausto; and a host of relatives. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Westside. Interment will follow at the Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Padilla, Cooper Salvatierra, Fred Chavez, and Mark Chavez.
