Barbara Irene (Wilson) Young, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. Born April 17, 1944 in Pomona, Calif., to Army SSG Cecil Edward Wilson and his wife, Mary Melissa Stooksbury, Barbara moved to Knoxville, Tenn. with her family in 1945. In 1956 the family moved to Albuquerque but Barbara always considered herself a Tennessean. She attended Jefferson Middle School and Highland High School where she met her husband, Jake Young. After graduating in 1962, Barbara and Jake settled in Albuquerque to raise their family. She eventually returned to their alma mater, working as a secretary and textbook room manager at Highland for 18 years, retiring in 1994 to spend more time with her family and travel with Jake. Barbara enjoyed spending her time visiting garage sales, casinos, and she could never pass up a Farmer's Market. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob O. (Jake) Young; her parents; and one brother, Paul Edward, who died at age 5. Survivors include son, Steven Young and wife, Kelly Young of Albuquerque; daughter, Lisa Young Lemelin, and husband, Ron Lemelin of Sandia Park, NM; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Frame and husband, Matthew Frame of Dallas, TX; granddaughters, Cari Anne and Cami Lynn Young and grandson, Jack Henri Lemelin; sister, Kate Wilson and husband, Don Wilson of Seagoville, TX and brother, David Lee Wilson and wife, Sharon Wilson of Tijeras, NM. The Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Burial will be for immediate family.
