Barbara Taylor Wiley was born in Gladewater, TX, on September 2, 1933, and died on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM. During her 89 years, she served God faithfully, 56 of those years with the love of her life, Don Wiley.
Barbara was one of six children born to Oliver and Thelma Taylor and grew up in several towns in Texas, finally moving to NM and graduating from Eunice High School, in Eunice, NM. She attended Eastern New Mexico University, where she met and married Don Wiley. Upon graduation, she and Don moved to Carrollton, Texas, where she attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and received her nursing degree while Don went to seminary.
Barbara was gifted in music and used her talents as church pianist and to accompany many of Don's choirs. She was also a gifted soprano and even toured with a singing trio known as the "Highlanders." Her talents also enabled her to have several careers in addition to her nursing career, including elementary music teacher, high school business teacher, church secretary, and school nurse.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Janette Nelson (Larry Nelson) and Carol Manzanares (Toby Manzanares); grandchildren, Tommy Manzanares and Shae Manzanares, and Brian Nelson (Kristin), Becki Stockton, Jill Wysong (Daniel), and Eric Nelson (Emily), and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3906 19th Avenue SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
