Barbara Wedertz, 81, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed peacefully at home on October 13, 2021 after a battle with congestive heart failure.
She was born Barbara, Maxine Cagle, in Jasper, Alabama on August 31, 1940, and lived in various places throughout her life, including San Mateo, California and Juneau, Alaska. She settled in Albuquerque in 1977, where she lived until 2013, where she took a five year detour in Safety Harbor, Florida with her daughter and her family - which she loved, before returning to Albuquerque in 2018.
In her working life, Barbara was an executive secretary until her retirement in the early 2000s. After her retirement, she enjoyed a part-time job at a retirement community for several years. Although a bit of a hermit, she loved talking with people who enjoyed her wit and humor. She loved to travel and spent time on trains, planes and cruise ships. She delighted in Caribbean cruising with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Baba. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed recreating and modifying recipes that were presented on cooking shows. Around Christianity throughout her life, she came to faith in Christ near the end of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Dave Wedertz, Paul Wedertz, and Danielle Ferreri and her husband Greg, as well as three grandsons Matthew, Jake, Joey, all of Albuquerque and granddaughter Shannon of Stockton, California, as well as her former husband Ralph Wedertz and his wife Pam, of Albuquerque.
Her Memorial and Celebration of Life will be at Heritage Christian Fellowship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, November 6, 2021, 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, Heart and Vascular Care online at https://give.phs.org/give/357889/#!/donation/checkout or through the mail.
