Barbara Tellier, 76 passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 5, 2022.
She was born to Edward and Eleanor LaBine on January 17th, 1946, in Stambaugh, Michigan. She grew up in the small town of Tipler, Wisconsin, graduated from Florence High School in Florence, Wisconsin where she earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and shortly after met her future husband, Jacob Tellier. They were married on October 15, 1966, at St. Michael's church in Milwaukee. They made their first home outside of Chicago in Arlington Heights, IL and later moved to Carpentersville, IL where they lived for eight years before settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1975.
Barbara and Jacob raised two children, Catherine Annette born in 1975 and Jacob Edward born in 1982.
Her lifelong passion was animals. In 1985 she started a non-profit humane organization, the Alliance Against Animal Abuse, Inc. that specialized in investigating cruelty to equines and other livestock. She was active in the organization until her health began to fail in 2018.
She is survived by her caring husband of 56 years, Jacob, daughter Catherine Tellier Lehner (husband Dana), son Jacob Edward Tellier (wife Taylor) and Grandson Mason Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eleanor LaBine, sister Joan Runge and brother Thomas LaBine.
Barbara declined having a memorial service but would encourage a donation of time or money to the following non-profit animal organizations in her memory: PPJ Planned Pethood de Juarez- street dog rescue and spay/neuter clinic provider, Santuario de Karuna - micro animal sanctuary and Cloud Dancers - therapeutic horsemanship.
