Barbara Maria Sanchez

March 18, 1927 — January 18, 2016

Barbara Maria Sanchez was 88 when she passed peacefully to the spirit world at her home with her family on January 18, 2016. Maria Barbarita Padilla Sanchez, a native of Albuquerque, was born on March 18, 1927. She attended Albuquerque High School and worked retail businesses.

Barbara was the middle of nine children - Nicolas, Rebecca, Isabel, Eliseo, Maria Barbarita, Clorinda, Estella, Telesfor Jr., and is survived by her youngest sister, Theresa Pohl; and her lifelong partner, Gilbert Paul Sanchez. Gilbert and Barbara married upon his return from serving in the U.S. Navy and had just celebrated 69 years of marriage. She is also survived by her four children, Beva Sanchez-Padilla, Barbara Palmer, James Sanchez, Anna Marie Sanchez, and their spouses, Lawrence Lucero and Rick Palmer; grandchildren, Dennis, Mario and Nicholas Kuhn, Micaela and Siboney Diaz-Sanchez, Joshua Bress, Monique Sanchez and Shawn Lucero; and four great-grandchildren, Natasha, Benjamin, Emma, Mylah, Landon and Amadeus, they were her life. Her dedication to her husband and family were paramount. She was always the supreme supporter of all of her family's activities and associations.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 22, 2016, 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street in Santa Fe, at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 25, 2016.
