Barbara Gayle Cobb Mohorcich slipped away from her earthly home on Sunday morning, December 22, 2024. She lived her 93 years in Colorado and New Mexico.
Barbara leaves behind her five children: Gayle, John (Laura), Ann, Lynn, Mark (Holly); her nine grandchildren: Josh (Jill), Marni (Paul), Andy, J. (Wei), Sarah, Thomas, Bailey, Luke and Addy; her four great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jordan, Kilayne (Arin) and PB, and great-great granddaughter, Emaleigh, her "adopted" son, Bruce (Kim), many other extended family members, and a multitude of friends whom she also considered as her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; granddaughter, Amy; son-in-law, Jerry, her parents and her sister and two brothers.
In addition to being an amazing homemaker (after all, she was a Cancer), she worked at Hickory Farms, Penn Mutual, and volunteered for the Albuquerque Police Department and at Holy Ghost and St. John XXIII parishes.
Barbara enjoyed riding her horse as a young woman, baking bread, reading books, growing tomatoes, playing card games, and driving her friends and families on fun adventures. She adored her CFM friends, her Hickory Farms friends, her Money-Counting friends, her Water Babies friends, her Breakfast Group friends, and her dear neighbors. Most of all, she declared her favorite delight was in raising her own children and a menagerie of other people who gravitated her way.
Barbara was a force of nature. She was a vibrant, no-nonsense, loving, determined, independent woman who shot from the hip. She was also brave and courageous and wholly herself right until the end.
In addition to her many wonderful friends, the family gives special thanks to Regina, Dr. Frank Comunas and team, Harmony Home Health Care, and the fantastic folks at Morada Quintessence Retirement Community.
Momma, may you rest in peace with Dad and enjoy that steak dinner. We love you.
A Funeral Mass and reception will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
