Barbara Anne Lewis, age 89, passed away at home on Monday, April 20, 2015. She was born in Astoria, OR in 1925. Barbara was a graduate of Astoria High School and attended the University of Seattle Providence Nursing School for one year. She married Frank M. Lewis in 1951. They lived in Portland, OR where their son and daughter were born. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1957. Barbara worked as a teller at banks in Oregon and Albuquerque and was a health aide at Monte Vista, Montgomery, and Mountain View elementary schools In addition, she was a volunteer at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital for eighteen years. Barbara and Frank enjoyed traveling together. She also enjoyed bowling and playing tennis until coming down with rheumatoid arthritis and spinal stenosis, which she struggled with for over 25 years. Barbara loved her family, which she considered the most important thing in her life. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Annie and Sydney Smith. Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Lewis; son, Donald Lewis and wife, Jan; daughter, Nancy Phillips and boyfriend, Ron Mansoldo; granddaughters, Kendra Hensley, Kelsey Chiotti and husband, David, Monica Sower and husband, Daniel, and Michelle Winters and husband, Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caiden Chiotti and Landon and Brooklyn Sower. Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
