LENZ, BARBARA T. In 1962, the Lord sent us an angel and now He has taken her home. Barbara was born August 17, 1962 at the Air Force Academy. She was joy, happiness, and love; and spread those to all her family and those she met. Barbara attended the Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center and learned many skills. She was a member of a band at the Center which was chosen for national Special Arts Festival to perform in Washington D.C. They met Debby Boone and she spent some time with them. Barbara attended Wasson High School in Colorado Springs. She was accomplished in needlepoint and many of us were blessed to enjoy her work. Barbara loved calendars and at the start of a new year it was her job to get her calendar and mark the upcoming birthdays for all of the family members. She loved that she was a sister and daughter. Her trips to the Rocky Mountains were special. Her aunt Pat, a Mercy nun, was her special person. Most summers involved a trip to Iowa for a grand birthday celebration with the nuns and many relatives and friends. If we didn't make it to Iowa many would join us in the Colorado Mountains near Keystone and Dillon. She always had a favorite dog; Oso was a real special one. Barbara loved music and she loved to dance. The house would fill with Christmas carols from her CD. Her special song was America the Beautiful and would silence all to listen. Special Olympics was another joy. Barbara learned to run, bowl, swim and other things. Her silver medal for bowling in the State meet, presented by one of the Denver Broncos, was special. The last few years our dear Barbara was lost to the cruel world of Alzheimer's. She left us on February 27, 2014 to join her father, Raymond Lenz and her sister, Margaret Bovie. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nora and Edward Lenz; and her maternal grandparents, Margaret and Timothy Sullivan. Barbara leaves behind her mother, Catharine Lenz; sisters, Susan Alarid and Virginia Lenz; brother, Michael Lenz and wife, Danella; brother-in-law, David Bovie; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; her dear aunt Patricia Sullivan; and many relatives and friends. We want you to know if The Lord blesses you with one of these who will be one of the "Little Children Forever", give them a chance to show you what true love and joy can be found. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, 10:00 am, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. Please visit our online guest book for Barbara at .
