Barbara Ann Karnes

Age 56, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. She was born to Robert & Esther Karnes. She worked as a professional caregiver for the developmentally disabled and was an accomplished sign language interpreter for the deaf. Barbara received a BS degree in Human Services from the University of Phoenix. She inspired her family and friends by demonstrating that love does indeed know how to suffer, as she exhibited the strength to endure the extra ordinary struggle she had with cancer in the last years of her life. In spite of chronic pain and insomnia, she devoted herself selflessly, to help family members in need without complaint or protest. Barbara had the kind of laugh that one could not hear without being moved to laugh along with her. It was an honor and privilege to have known her as a daughter, sister and friend. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 25, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and the Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 26, 2014, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. Private burial will take place at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
