Barbara Henson, 80 years old, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Barbara grew up in Albuquerque where she graduated from Valley High School and received her BA from UNM. She worked as a draftsperson and cartographer, retiring from the US Geological Survey. She enjoyed her art and was a gifted pastel painter. After retirement she enjoyed different activities at the Senior Center, dancing and walking her fur babies with her friends in the park.
She will be remembered for her smile, her laughter, and her love of animals. When they were young, her nephews called her their "Auntie Mame" from the 1958 movie.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Marguerite, and Kenneth Henson; her nephew, Stephen Brickley, and cousin/sister, JoAnn McCaleb. She is survived by her sister, Kennie Brickley-Warren; nephews, Kenneth Brickley (Supap) and Jeffry Brickley (Peggy); grand-nephews, Billy Suyaful, Willy Brickley, and Pittaya Brickley (Onnarin); and great-great-nephew, Oshi. She is also survived by a beloved Uncle John and Aunt Violet, and many cousins and her beloved fur baby "Meme".
We wish to express our thanks to the staff at the Chessman Beehive Home for their kind and loving care of Barbara during her final illness. We ask in lieu of flowers; you donate to Animal Humane New Mexico in her honor.
There will be a Celebration of her Life held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Ramada Plaza, 2020 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque. We invite her friends and family to help us celebrate her life and share some stories about her. Her art will be on display at the celebration.
